4th Partner Meeting - 03.-04. September 2008 in Vienna

The last partner meeting will be used to review all results of the project: the WPO curriculum is now available in its final version; a project flyer was produced in all languages of the partner consortium and will soon be ready for download in English. The evaluation materials of the WPO curriculum after the completion of pilot courses, where the new training material was used, were summarized and analyzed by the TU Harburg.  The evaluation report will be presented on the meeting and then made available on the WPO website.

Draft for Guidelines for Certification of "WPO-Trainer"

A major result of the project can now be downloaded under results/ workpackage 7. The published draft for guidelines of a future WPO Trainer certification is intended to ensure the sustainability of the project also after its completion.

Wit these guidelines, the developing project team gives recommendations on didactic networks, thus giving institutions and other interested bodies a tool to adapt their portfolio to general standards. These standards are minimum requirements for the WPO-trainer qualification and refer to the aims, extent, topics, methods and structures of the course. A mutual acceptance of further educaiton services will only be achieved, if these minimum requirements are fulfilled. The design of the qualification portfolio or programs may be varied as long as the guidelines are observed.

1st Version of WPO Curriculum

It consists of three parts: The first part is designed for the theoretical preparation of the trainer, the second part has a very parctical approach and can be used as handout for the trainers and finally the last part gives an overview of annexes, worksheets and literature sources.

1st version of the WPO Trainer Curriculum and Guidelines for EU-wide Certification of the Curriculum

At this meeting, the partners presented significant results within the work packages, including the first draft of the WPO Trainer Curriculum and the concepts of the individual partners for the test and evaluation phase of the curriculum.
Furthermore guidelines were presented that are intended to support an EU-wide certification of the WPO Trainer Concept. These guidelines are currently reviewed among the partners and the members of the advisory board and will be finally approved in January 2008.


Project WPO-Trainer presented on a workshop in Brussels in May 2007

Two representatives of the project team took part in a workshop in Brussels that took place on the the 3rd of May 2007 concerning European study on Trainers in Vocational Education and Training. The study was carried out by the Research voor Beleid (Institute for Policy Research) and PLATO, both from the Netherlands, together with several European experts. The workshop gave the opportunity to discuss initial findings after the first phase of the study, related to the current situation on trainers in VET in 32 European countries, but did also collect input for the next phase of the study, the in-depth analyses of 15 countries. 
The project "WPO-Trainer" and its first results were presented and promoted during this event.

Outlook: project work from May to November 2007 and next meeting

The next partner meeting will take place in Ljubljana in November 2007. By then, the WPO-trainer course as well as the related training material shall be available as a preliminary version. After the partner meeting, the course and the materials are going to be tested and, afterwards, implemented in all partner countries.

Appointment of the project’s advisory board

During the last weeks, the advisory board of the project has constituted – with at least one representa-tive from every partner country. The board members were invited to join the partner meeting in Gdansk and, where the participating persons met all project partners personally and learned a lot about the current project work. From now on, the board members will be informed about the project status in regular intervals.
A detailed list of all advisory board members, presenting the members and giving their contact data, will be available on the project website in the beginning of May.

Valorisation from October to April 2007

After a general valorisation concept a) for every partner and b) for the entire project team was created, all partner started their active work on project valorisation now. A detailed list of the activities so far can be found under www.wpo-trainer.net/results/WP7

Successful 2nd partner meeting in Gdansk in April 2007

The 2nd Partner meeting, that took place on the 16./17.4.2007 in Gdansk, gave all partners the oppor-tunity to presents the results of their work during the first project months. They presented their analy-ses of the national conditions the intended WPO-course is going to be based on – this contained an in-vestigation of existing working-process oriented training approaches as well as of current best practices.

A competence profile for the planned WPO-course, developed by the HWK Hamburg in cooperation with all project partners, was presented and discussed on the meeting, thus, creating a joint basis for the course development.

Under the direction of the TU Harburg, a general course concept and a system of appropriate tools was developed during the last weeks and optimized in co-operation with all partners (see www.wpo-trainer.net/results/WP2). The relevant tools for the course development were presented in Gdansk and tested by the project team during several workshops.

Successful Kickoff-meeting in January in Hamburg

After finalizing the organisational preparations, the project team started its active co-operation in November 2006 and met for the first time on the Kickoff-meeting in Hamburg on the 19./20.1.2007. Based on the efficient and fruitful discussion about the preconditions of the curriculum to be developed for the partner countries, the basis for a joint creation of a competence profile for trainers and an analysis of existing methodological approaches was established – both working steps are currently carried out by all partners in co-operation.
